AI Automation Engineer
Are you looking for more than just automating CI pipelines or scripting task runners? Does redefining how engineering teams build, ship, and secure software excite you? We're a rapidly expanding cybersecurity startup revolutionizing how teams manage vulnerability workflows—and now, we're extending that innovation to our internal engineering operations. We’re looking for a passionate and inventive AI Automation Engineer to help build out the glue between our tools, automate critical workflows, and push the boundaries of what's possible with modern AI-assisted development.

About Nucleus Security
Nucleus Security is transforming how security and development teams manage vulnerabilities at scale. Our platform unifies vulnerability data across scanners and environments, enabling organizations to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities efficiently. We work with some of the most security-forward enterprises, empowering them with tools that accelerate secure software delivery and infrastructure hardening.

Role Overview
As an AI Automation Engineer, you will be at the forefront of engineering productivity at Nucleus. You'll work across internal systems and developer workflows to build scalable, intelligent automation for everything from bug triage to pull request generation. You'll also partner with stakeholders across engineering and operations to ensure our internal tooling accelerates, rather than slows down, our product innovation cycle.

You will spend your time evenly split between designing systems that integrate across a range of developer tools, and implementing intelligent, AI-driven workflows that drive efficiency, accuracy, and insight.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain internal automation tools that streamline critical engineering workflows including bug triage, code quality checks, automated QA pipelines with Selenium, CI/CD triggers, and more.
  • Design and implement intelligent, agentic workflows using LLMs and automation frameworks.
  • Own core metrics infrastructure and automate insights delivery around engineering performance and operational bottlenecks.
  • Build and maintain integrations between our CI/CD pipelines and internal systems.
  • Partner with the QA, engineering, and operations teams to ensure tooling is secure, maintainable, and scalable.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to explore and implement automation around dependency management, especially within PHP-based and Python systems.
  • Contribute to the future of Nucleus’ build and deployment infrastructure.
  • Participate in cross-team discussions, architectural reviews, and proof-of-concept development with an eye toward scaling innovation internally.
  • Work closely with the QA team to design, develop, and maintain our automated test frameworks and end-to-end tests using Selenium and related tools.

What We’re Looking For
Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or build engineering roles.
  • Strong Python development experience.
  • Experience with containerization and automation tooling, especially Docker.
  • Prior experience building CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working in Linux environments.
  • Ability to independently scope, design, and build scalable automation systems.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in AI tooling or intelligent automation.
  • Hands-on experience with AI technologies, LLM APIs, and agentic workflows (OpenAI API, Claude Code, etc…).

Preferred Experience

  • Experience designing internal developer tools or platform engineering systems.

  • Familiarity with Observability and Monitoring platforms (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Sentry).
  • Familiarity with PHP and its ecosystem, particularly in the context of Composer and package/dependency management.
  • Experience in test automation using Selenium.
  • Experience building and maintaining test harnesses and automating QA processes as part of a CI/CD workflow.

Why You Should Be Excited

  • Nucleus is a truly unique solution that’s defining a market AND making an actual impact.

  • We’re biased, but you will get to work with one of the best teams in security. We have a lot to get done and we work extremely hard, but we have fun in the process.

  • Work with a high-performing team that values creativity, autonomy, and innovation.

  • Collaborate on meaningful products that improve the security posture of major organizations.

  • Enjoy flexible remote work arrangements and a strong emphasis on work-life balance.

At Nucleus we are committed to achieving excellence in our field by combining diversity, collaboration, teamwork, and pride in our work.
